In the Beginning

Emily Stockert began acting at the age of 7 after being inspired by a local production of Annie. She promptly auditioned for and was cast in a regional production of The Wizard of Oz in Hagerstown, MD.

Emily attended high school in Ohio where she appeared in over 20 plays and earned the title of "Best Actress" in her senior class. She also studied acting at Cincinnati's renowned Playhouse in the Park.

The College Years

Emily earned a BA in English from the Ohio State University. She distinguished herself academically, theatrically, and through her volunteer work while at the largest university in the country. Emily graduated Summa cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with honors in the liberal arts. She was a member of Ohio Staters, Inc., an organization dedicated to serving the university community. Emily also volunteered at the Short Stop Teen Drop-in Center in Columbus, Ohio. Emily's volunteer work was honored with OSU's "Outstanding Senior Leader" Award and "Kaplan Humanitarian Award".

Emily was also active in the theatre, performing on and off-stage with the university based theatre group Strollers Student Theatrics (named for the medieval strolling minstrels) and the Department of Theatre. In her junior year, Emily was President of Strollers.

The Real World

After graduation, Emily initially pursued a career in social services. She worked for Directions for Youth teaching racial tolerance to 6th and 7th graders in Columbus' inner city schools and spent some time working with youth in prison.

Emily wasn't focused on an acting career until she snagged the lead in a production of Our Town. During this production, she decided to make the leap into a professional acting career.

She then moved to Seattle where she studied acting with Master Teacher JD Coburn. Emily collaborated with the Old School Repertory Company in creating 3 original productions which debuted at the Seattle Fringe Festival. The emotionally intense 9-11 earned the "Sell Out" Award for packing the house. While working and training theatrically, Emily also honed her film acting in several independent and student films.

L.A. Story

Emily's hard work and talent recently brought her to Los Angeles. She currently trains at the advanced level at Playhouse West. Emily is an avid reader, animal lover, and a vegetarian. She keeps fit hiking in the canyons near her home and doing yoga. Emily loves watching movies and learning the history of film. Emily lives with her husband, who is an electrical engineer, two cats, and some goldfish.
